16-17.10.2025 – The Independent Commission for Mines and Minerals in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and the University of Mitrovica “Isa Boletini” (UMIB) has successfully organized the VIIth edition of the International Multidisciplinary Geoscience Conference IMGC 2025.
The Conference gathered researchers and professionals from the country, the region and different countries of the world, providing an important platform for the exchange of scientific knowledge and practical experience in the field of geoscience and the mining industry.
35 scientific papers and 12 abstracts were presented in the first day of Conference, where well-known national and international experts contributed. Among the important participants were as well the Professors invited from the USA, Italy, Turkey and Germany, where they hold lectures as key speakers, whereas from the country, with special contribution, is presented Dr. Habib Basholli, Chairman of the ICMM Board and member of Organization and Scientific Committee of the Conference.
The second day was a field visit, where participants had opportunity to closely visit some of the most important mining enterprises in Kosovo: Trepça, KEK and Sharcem, by specifically getting to know with operational processes and industry challenges.
According to Dr. Basholli, this Conference was a specific success, in the organisation aspect also to a great level of participation and the quality of scientific presentations, by testifying again the importance of institutional cooperation in the upgrade of geoscience and the sustainable development of the mining sector in Kosovo.
