Meeting with representatives of the World Bank.

09.10.2025 – Today, at the offices of ICMM, a meeting was held with representatives of the World Bank.

From the World Bank, the following representatives participated in the meeting:

1. Richard Record – Lead Country Economist;
2. Elena Crivellaro – Economist;
3. Kerstin Schopohl – Economist.

The representatives of the World Bank were received by:

1. Nasuf Mjekiqi – Board Member;
2. Bahri Karaça – Board Member;
3. Haradin Gërvalla – Acting General Director;
4. Blerim Meholli – Board Advisor for Geology.

The Independent Commission for Mines and Minerals held a meeting today with representatives of the World Bank on the topic:

“The Regulatory Environment for Mine Exploration in Kosovo, Investor Interest, and Other Relevant Topics.”

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the current state of the mining sector, existing challenges, and opportunities for improving the legal and institutional framework.

During the meeting, the importance of establishing a clear, transparent, and sustainable regulatory environment was emphasized—one that would enhance investor confidence, ensure the sustainable use of mineral resources, and generate direct benefits for the country’s economy and local communities.

The representatives of the World Bank highlighted that they have held several meetings with national institutions and investment companies in Kosovo. Their focus is on three key sectors of the country, one of which is the mining sector.

The Independent Commission for Mines and Minerals will continue its cooperation with international partners to ensure that the mining sector in Kosovo develops in a sustainable, transparent manner and in line with the public interest.
